Richard J. Thometz
Richard Thometz owns and operates Hailey Development. Thometz began working in the development industry in 1984 with Kenn Roberts and Tom Munz at The Development Group. He went on to work for Winchester Homes (Weyerhaeuser) for ten years, where he served as Vice President and Legal Counsel before founding Hailey Development, L.C. in 1998. Thometz has served as President of the MNCBIA in 2002 and President of the Maryland State Builders Association (MSBA) in 2008. He has also served on the founding board of the Howard County Green Business Council and the advisory board of the Maryland Clean Energy Center in 2010. Thometz has had significant involvement with numerous crisis shelter organizations and was a founding board member of M-CAEL, a non-profit focused on providing adult English literacy resources in Montgomery County. He is a recipient in 2013 of the Milton E. Kettler Award, which was given in recognition of his 25 years of achievement, participation, and contributions, not only to the building industry but to the community at large.
Thometz also co-owns an energy efficiency services company, Efficient Home LLC, which he manages with his partner Tony Crane. Efficient Home provides energy efficiency auditing and improvements contracting services for a variety of residential, commercial, government, and utility customers in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Thometz graduated with a BS in Accounting from the University of Maryland, magna cum laude; a BA from Maryland in Political Science, also magna cum laude; and a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center, cum laude, along with undergraduate studies at the University of Idaho.
Michael Fitzgerald
Along with setting up Fitzgerald Development Services, LLC in 2008, Mike Fitzgerald teamed up with Hailey Development, where his complimentary skill sets help to optimize all phases of project development. Fitzgerald provides project development management services for, and is a partner in, numerous projects managed by Hailey Development. Fitzgerald came into the development business as a college intern with a major road construction firm. He continued in development management upon graduation in 1984 with Orchard Development, a local development company. At Orchard, Fitzgerald managed all aspects of residential land development site work, along with commercial and apartment site development. He later joined Pulte Homes, one of the nation’s largest national homebuilders, where he worked his way up to Vice President-Land. At Pulte, Fitzgerald managed the acquisitions, entitlement and development of projects in the Baltimore-Washington metro area, along with eastern shore Delaware properties. While in this role he helped prepare the division’s operating and acquisition strategy, negotiated land deals from raw un-entitled properties to finished lot option agreements, and managed the financial analysis and the due diligence process. With his civil engineering background he played a major role in the site design and layout of numerous market rate and active adult communities. Projects managed by Fitzgerald have ranged is size from 30 unit to 3,500 units and encompass major recreation facilities and other recreational design elements.
Fitzgerald graduated with a BS in Civil Engineering from Widener University in Chester, PA.
Tyler Kohler
Coming from a background in civil engineering and landscape architecture, Tyler Kohler joined Hailey Development in the Spring of 2015. Tyler provides project management services for the numerous projects managed by Hailey Development. Tyler recently completed his Masters in Real Estate and Development from the University of Maryland in 2014 and was excited to enter the development world with Hailey Development. Before working in development management Tyler started his professional career with KCI Technologies, Inc. in 2008. Prior to KCI, Tyler acquired a BS in Landscape Architecture from West Virginia University. Tyler’s diverse background has made him a vital asset to Hailey Development and he looks to continue to grow his experience to better serve the company and the services they provide.
